The Role

Carlisle Support Services are looking for Revenue Security Officers to maintain the security of both trains and the train station environment at all times. This is a varied role supporting our client Arriva Rail London (ARL) on their overground stations - Willesden Junction, Camden Road and Gospel Oak. This role involves early starts and late finishes and the hours/shift pattern will be discussed at interview.

You will provide a high visibility presence for the reassurance of the public, ARL personnel and other key stakeholders, reporting all relevant incidents appropriately and to the appropriate people as soon as possible

You will act as an ambassador for ARL, providing customer care support to passengers.

You will provide a high-profile presence on train reassurance patrols, static reassurance duties at stations and assist in carrying out revenue blocks at stations.

You will carry out on train ticket checks and support with British Transport Police initiatives.

Duties may include but are not limited to:

Security

  • To provide security of train, premises, personnel and equipment at all times.
  • To provide detailed reports of stations surveyed and keep accurate patrol and incident logs in line with procedures.
  • To provide high visibility reassurance at Revenue blocks, crowd control and emergency situations.
  • To maintain official access to ARL premises and identify incidents or ticketless travel.

Key tasks

  • To perform high visibility reassurance patrols on the ARL network, providing accurate and polite information to members of the public.
  • To complete paperwork in accordance with contractual obligations and Department for Transport requirements.
  • To provide assistance to ARL staff with security incidents, evacuations, breakdowns or accidents.
  • Liaise with the emergency services and record accurate log, incident, collar and crime numbers.

Revenue

  • Revenue checks is a key element of your duties and should be conducted on trains, when travelling to stations and at static locations.
  • Assist ARL employees in revenue disputes and carry out duties on the network as stated within the relevant bye-laws.

Information & Communication

  • To provide accurate and articulate information to the public, ARL employees and other service stakeholders, accurately input relevant data concerning crime statistics in the appropriate log books and follow up where necessary within agreed timescales.
  • To facilitate the flow of information within ARL, British Transport Police and Carlisle including shift handovers. 

Health & Safety

  • To follow, promote and deliver ARL Health & Safety procedures, emergency evacuation procedures/policy and instructions at all times
  • Be well versed with station layout and location of emergency equipment, platform emergency train stops, passenger alarms and emergency exits
  • Provide timely calls for appropriate assistance when necessary i.e. Ambulance, Police, Fire Services and Control,

You will need:

5 years checkable work history.

Ability to meet Railway Safety Accreditation Scheme requirements.

Ideally some experience working within a network rail environment and as part of a team.

People and communication skills, ability to establish and maintain relationships with the client and customer.

Reliability and flexibility, smart in appearance and professional at all times.
