The Role

We are seeking an exceptional Events Operations Manager who will be accountable for the day-to-day operational delivery of all Events security and Security Control Room functions at Olympia London.

The role provides single-point ownership for Events and Security Control Room operations, embedding Carlisle standards, ensuring consistent event readiness, improving operational grip, and reducing reliance on reactive working and overtime. The Events Operations Manager will lead planning, documentation, supervision, performance assurance, and continuous improvement while acting as the primary escalation point for Events-related operational issues.

This role is critical in delivering safe, consistent, world-class event security services that scale with Olympia’s growth trajectory and protect service quality, compliance, and client confidence.

Key Responsibilities

Your core role will include but not be limited to the following activities:

  • Take full ownership of day-to-day Events security operations and SCR performance, with clear accountability for standards, staffing, and outcomes.
  • Act as the single operational escalation point for Events and SCR issues, resolving matters at source and reducing dependency on the Contract Manager.
  • Maintain consistent operational control across days, nights, and peak event periods.
  • Budget ownership / commercial oversight
  • Work with the client to Lead the development, review, and delivery of Event Security Plans & Crowd management plans, Event Management Plans, CT RAs, and site-specific risk assessments for all events.
  • Own event readiness processes, ensuring staffing, documentation, briefings, and control measures are completed to standard and on time.
  • Ensure escalation routes, command structures, and contingency plans are clearly defined and embedded for each event.
  • Security Control Room (SCR) Performance
  • Lead and professionalise SCR operations, ensuring control room activity is aligned to the needs of a live events environment.
  • Own rota design, leave planning, and minimum staffing rules to ensure resilience and predictability.
  • Reduce reliance on structural overtime by introducing controlled planning and early intervention.
  • Maintain a trained and event-ready resource pool, including a bench team of approximately 20 event-trained staff available for deployment.
  • Provide clear leadership and direction to Supervisors, Duty Managers, and SCR Operators.
  • Lead post-event debriefs and incident reviews, ensuring lessons learned are captured and embedded.
  • maintain training matrix, ensure SIA compliance, site induction, refresher briefings, scenario training, SCR competence, and supervisor development.
  • Operate within Bronze/Silver/Gold, ensure SCR supports Silver, and ensure decision logs align with that structure.
  • Ensure all operational documentation is accurate, current, and audit-ready always.
  • Maintain clear evidence trails to support investigations, audits, and client assurance.
  • Represent Events and SCR operations in operational forums and planning meetings across the Olympia estate.
  • Build strong, trusted working relationships that support efficient delivery and risk mitigation.
  • Lead continuous improvement across Events and SCR operations, embedding Carlisle best practice.
  • Support Olympia Events’ projected growth to 250+ events annually, ensuring the security operating model scales safely and sustainably.
  • Deliver a formal 90-day assess, evaluate, and propose efficiencies and improvements review, followed by ongoing performance reporting and improvement planning.

Skills & Experience

  • Current SIA Door Supervisor licence
  • Minimum 5 years' events security experience, with at least 3 years in an events management role
  • Proven experience producing Event Security Plans, Crowd Management Plans, and CT Risk Assessments
  • Experience managing Security Control Room operations, including incident logging and shift handover
  • Working knowledge of Bronze/Silver/Gold command frameworks
  • Strong rota management and workforce planning experience in a live events or venue environment
  • Confident communicator with experience liaising with event organisers, venue teams, and emergency services
  • Solid understanding of SIA compliance and relevant health and safety legislation 

Desirable

  • Level 4 or 5 qualification in Spectator Safety, Crowd Management, or Security Management
  • IOSH Managing Safely or First Aid at Work
  • Experience with incident management and workforce management systems (e.g. Zinc, Timegate)
  • Experience in a venue undergoing growth or significant operational change

 

Hours of Work typically, Monday to Friday, 08:00–17:00.

Flexibility is essential to meet event requirements, including evenings, weekends, and peak operational periods. Time off in lieu (TOIL) provided as appropriate.
