The Role:
As the COSS, you will be joining a strong team of well trained, experienced, and passionate staff who strive to uphold company values and deliver exceptional services to our customers. Use the training provided to follow HSQE and rail critical safety.
Managing a team and using the systems provided to ensure program and delivery efficiency.
Following WPP’s and designated programs to ensure that all trackside works are completed to the highest of standards and within the timeframes set.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for planning, in conjunction with the Safe Work Planner, in accordance with NR/L2/OHS/019, to identify site and task risks.
- Verify the Safe Work Pack at least one shift in advance.
- Will be in charge of works on site and have full accountability for delivering the works safely in accordance with NR/L2/OHS/019.
- Responsible and accountable for both operational, site and task risk management on site
- Ensuring policies and procedures of the CSS Business Management System are fully discharged within their area of responsibility.
- Responsible for organising, motivating, and supervising site operatives and subcontractors at all times.
- Undertake inductions, daily site briefings of method statements and activities, daily inspections and record any changes to methods of work or site conditions.
- Have full understanding of work objectives, programmes, and project details to ensure the contract is delivered effectively to timescales, programmes, and drawings.
- Proactively engaging the Close Call reporting system, reporting anything that you see which is likely to endanger either your own or the safety of others.
- Recording all shift activites on Work-IT & Switched-On
Skills and Competencies
- Experience of rail industry-based activities and tasks.
- PTS AC/DCCR
- COSS – essential
- SSSTS / SMSTS - preferable
- First aid - preferable
- Continued professional development courses as appropriate.
