The role
Carlisle Support Services is looking for a Mechanical & Electrical Engineer role to ensure the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of all mechanical and electrical systems across the clients-based assets. The role is responsible for maintaining, improving, and optimising building services infrastructure to support business continuity, enhance performance, and deliver a high-quality environment for the Hard Services Team. This includes overseeing planned and reactive maintenance, managing contractors, ensuring statutory compliance, and contributing to the design and delivery of projects.
Your core role will include but not be limited to the following activities:
- Lead, manage, and develop the engineering team to ensure high performance, accountability, and consistent service delivery
- Plan and allocate resources effectively to meet operational demands and service level agreements
- Drive efficiencies across maintenance activities through continuous improvement, innovation, and best practice
- Provide technical leadership and support to resolve complex mechanical and electrical issues
- Oversee planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive works to ensure reliability and minimal downtime
- Ensure full compliance with statutory regulations, health & safety standards, and company policies
- Manage and monitor contractor performance to ensure quality, value for money, and adherence to standards
- Build and maintain strong client relationships, acting as a key point of contact for technical matters
- Ensure service delivery meets or exceeds client expectations, with a focus on responsiveness and quality
- Analyse performance data and KPIs to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement
- Support the delivery of projects, upgrades, and lifecycle works across mechanical and electrical systems
- Promote a culture of safety, continuous improvement, and professional development within the team
The ideal candidate
- Strong background in mechanical and electrical engineering within a facilities management or building services environment
- Demonstrable experience in leading and managing engineering teams
- Proven track record of delivering both planned and reactive maintenance, driving operational efficiencies, and ensuring compliance with statutory regulations and health & safety standards. Experience in managing contractors, overseeing service delivery across multiple sites, and engaging directly with clients to maintain high service standards is essential.
- A recognised qualification in mechanical or electrical engineering is required, ideally supported by relevant professional certifications (such as City & Guilds, BTEC, or equivalent).
- An understanding of compliance frameworks and industry standards is important, along with strong technical knowledge of building systems.
Successful candidates will be required to provide original documentation for detailed screening and vetting processes.
This could include the following: passport / driving licence / utility bill dated in the last 3 months / HMRC letter / original bank statement / original payslip / birth certificate / a valid share code.
