The Role

Working alongside fellow Healthcare Security Officers and Trust colleagues, you will provide a professional 24/7 security service, helping to maintain a safe and secure environment for staff, patients and visitors. You will respond to incidents, offer assistance and advice, and balance security requirements with a positive visitor experience. Strong communication, teamwork, professionalism and a customer-focused approach are essential.

 

Your core role will include but not be limited to the following activities:

 

  • Patrol internal and external areas to protect people, buildings and property. 
  • Respond promptly to security incidents, fire alerts, alarms and emergencies. 
  • Support clinical teams with challenging situations, patient monitoring and safe restraint when required. 
  • effective communication and de-escalation techniques to manage aggressive or disruptive behaviour. 
  • Assist and direct patients, visitors and staff in a professional and courteous manner. 
  • Monitor CCTV, access control, ID badges, parking and traffic across the estate. 
  • Investigate, record and report incidents, crimes, hazards and security defects. 
  • Carry out escorts and support major events and security operations. 
  • Manage lost property and enforce Trust policies, including no smoking and access control. 
  • Maintain confidentiality and follow all safety, equality, inclusion and data protection requirements. 
  • Wear the required uniform and maintain equipment to a professional standard. 
  • Complete other appropriate duties as directed by the Security Team Leader. 

 

Is this you

  • Valid SIA Security Officer licence. 
  • At least one year of security experience within a healthcare environment. 
  • Physical Intervention Level 2 and Conflict Resolution qualifications. 
  • Knowledge of restraint and de-escalation techniques. 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Good investigation, reporting and record-keeping abilities. 
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills. 
  • Physically fit and able to respond effectively to emergencies. 
  • Professional appearance and conduct at all times. 
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team. 
  • Willingness to undertake any additional training required. 

 

First Aid, an SIA CCTV licence and additional security-related qualifications would be advantageous.

 

Successful candidates will be required to provide original documentation for detailed screening and vetting processes. This could include the following: passport, driving licence, utility bill dated in the last 3 months, HMRC letter, original bank statement, birth certificate or a valid share code.
